About Dr. Markese

Dr. Amy Markese earned her medical degree from Rush University Medical College and completed her residency at University of Minnesota Medical Center in the department of obstetrics, gynecology and women’s health.

Dr. Markese chose obstetrics and gynecology because it allows her to care for women throughout their lives and to really get to know each patient. She acknowledges that everyone is unique, and that this often requires a delicate and interactive approach to treatment. Listening to each patient’s personal situation and working with her to develop a treatment plan is not only one of Dr. Markese’s favorite aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, but she also sites this process as one of her greatest strengths in patient care.

She understands that obstetric and gynecologic health problems can be sensitive, and that finding a doctor a woman trusts can make an enormous difference. She sees it as her privilege to earn the trust of her patients through clinic visits, surgery or delivery. Her favorite aspect of working in obstetrics and gynecology is seeing patients through the many phases of their reproductive health, from their first period to menopause.

When Dr. Markese is not with a patient or advocating for women’s health, she can be found outdoors – hiking, camping, biking and rock climbing. Her pup and husband try to keep up.
