CU clinicians picked by Denver physicians as two doctors they would most want treating them and their families.
Denver (July 30, 2013) – Jaime Arruda, MD and Chesney Thompson, MD have been named as two of the “Top Docs of 2013” in Denver by 5280 Magazine. The prestigious listing, in its 20th year, recognizes Denver-area physicians cited by their peers as the tops in their field.
Both are doctors in the University of Colorado OB-GYN Department and were selected as a Top Doc in the Obstetrics and Gynecology category. This is Thompson’s second such distinction from 5280 Magazine, making the list in 2008. This is Arruda’s first award from the Denver magazine.
Thompson is an associate professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the CU School of Medicine and Arruda is an assistant professor there, as well. She also has a private practice outside of her CU work.
Arruda has special practice interests in exercise during pregnancy, vaginal birth after cesarean and minimally invasive robotic surgery. She treats a broad range of patient needs, including sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy and reproductive issues, breastfeeding, contraception, menopause, hormone replacement therapy and wellness and lifestyle issues. She is a graduate of Yale University and received her medical degree from John Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Thompson is also a graduate of Yale University and earned his medical degree at the Weill Cornell Medical College. In his practice he focuses on pregnancy and childbirth, women’s health and sexually transmitted diseases. He has special interests in abnormal Pap smears, cervical dysplasia and HPV.
Operating under the theory that physicians are best qualified to judge other physicians, 5280 Magazine surveys doctors in the metro Denver area and asks them which doctor they would want to treat themselves and their families. The surveyed doctors make their picks specialty by specialty. Any licensed physician in Colorado can participate in the online survey.
