Annual Exams
University of Colorado OB-GYN provides women annual exam appointments that allow enough time for a complete physical exam and for patients to discuss all of their questions and concerns with their OB-GYN provider.
Because a gynecological exam is very personal, it is important you feel comfortable with the medical provider of your choice. Women can choose to see the doctor, nurse practitioner or certified nurse midwife that they are most comfortable with.
At CU OB-GYN, our women’s health experts give sensitive and confidential care to every patient.
About annual exams
An annual gynecological exam is a female health screening that women should receive once a year. It checks for gynecological-related problems (relating to a woman’s reproductive organs) such as:
- Cervical dysplasia
- Menstrual disorders
- Breast health
Annual gynecological exams play a very important part in keeping women healthy. Women over the age of 18, or who are sexually active, should receive an annual exam so problems (even those that do not show symptoms at first) can be detected and treated early before becoming severe.
An annual exam is also an opportunity for women to ask questions regarding:
- Family planning and birth control
- Menopause
- Menstrual period problems
- Pelvic Pain
- Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) symptoms
- Sexual concerns
- Breast health
