About Dr. Leslie Coker Appiah
Dr. Leslie Appiah chose a career in obstetrics and gynecology because she believes women should be able to pursue life’s aspirations unencumbered by reproductive health problems. For Dr. Appiah, the opportunity to care for each patient through the many stages of her reproductive health journey is a privilege, which adds greater meaning and purpose to her work as a physician.
Dr. Appiah is most proud of her ability to develop enduring relationships with her patients based on trust and mutual respect. She approaches each patient with compassion, skill and the understanding that the medical system can be overwhelming and that her role is to help patients successfully navigate this system as they improve their health.
One of Dr. Appiah’s greatest joys as a healthcare provider is meeting people from different backgrounds and experiences, as it helps her advocate for the reproductive wellness of diverse populations. In addition to her advocacy, Dr. Appiah is often recognized for her expertise in the effects of cancer treatments on reproductive health and hormone replacement therapy in patients with complex medical conditions.
When “away” from work, Dr. Appiah enjoys discussing books, entertaining friends, traveling, cooking, enjoying music with her children and spending quiet time with her spouse.
